I've been messing with av1 encoding for my 4k gaming captures, and the file size savings are wild compared to h.265. Even at high bitrates, the compression is cleaner on detailed textures like grass and foliage, though encoding times can be brutal on older GPUs. It's a trade-off between storage and patience.
